Robert G. Hinton is a distinguished attorney with over 40 years of legal experience, deeply rooted in Tennessee and committed to legal excellence and community service. Born in Savannah, Tennessee, he was shaped by the values of his parents, the late Willie Mae and Granville Hinton. His father, a dedicated public servant, served as a Tennessee State Representative, Commissioner of Conservation, and Legislative Liaison, instilling in Robert a lifelong dedication to integrity, advocacy, and service. 


Robert graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration before earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1985. While pursuing his legal education, he clerked for Judge Thomas G. Hull in 1984, gaining invaluable experience within the judicial system. In 1988, he co-founded Sproul & Hinton, earning a reputation for meticulous and strategic legal work. After 27 years, he launched Hinton Law Firm in 2012, continuing his dedication to serving Loudon County and East Tennessee with excellence.


Throughout his career, Robert has developed deep expertise in family law, real estate, estate planning, and general litigation. His extensive experience includes over 1,000 bench trials, 50 jury trials, and the drafting of more than 3,000 wills. His reputation for integrity, sharp legal strategy, and client-focused advocacy has earned him numerous awards and recognition within the legal community.


Beyond his legal practice, Robert is a steadfast champion of civic engagement and volunteerism. He founded the Loudon County Education Foundation and has been a dedicated member of the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years, serving as a past Chairman. His leadership as a past President of the Lenoir City Civitan Club further reflects his commitment to strengthening the community. Through his involvement in various organizations, he continues to make a lasting impact on public service and local initiatives.



Robert is an active member of Saint John Neumann Catholic Church and a proud Loudon County resident. He and his wife, Amy, deeply value their community and family life, cherishing their time with their two adult children, Mary Grace and Granville.
